Through "HUMANITY," we will delve deeply into the fundamental values and roles of design and
present a design vision for a sustainable society and human community."
· Design has evolved from an age of functionalism centered on productivity and efficiency along with the industrial revolution to an age of emotions that
values human cognition, experience, and intellectual satisfaction; furthermore, the paradigm is shifting to a social age that emphasizes social relations and
community values for a sustainable future.
· HUMANITY signifies the combination of humanity and HUMAN+COMMUNITY, which is a concept that extends from an individual unit to a community, meaning the mutual co-existence in consideration of adjacent beings surrounding 'myself'
· The fundamental value of design begins with people-oriented thinking and the role of design as a tool of creativity and innovation that creates a common value for humanity is becoming ever more important.
· Through 'Gwangju Design Biennale 2019', we will share various design experiments and discourses of 'HUMANITY' as a new design strategy and practice, and through this, we will survey the vision of design that realizes humanity and changes the world.
